The Role of Balaputra Dewa Museum as a City Icon of Palembang for the Alpha Generatio

Abstract

This study aims to examine the strategic role of the Balaputra Dewa Museum as a cultural icon and educational center in Palembang City, particularly in engaging with Generation Alpha. As an institution dedicated to cultural preservation, the museum faces the challenge of adapting to a generation raised in a fully digital environment. This research employs a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review. The findings reveal that the Balaputra Dewa Museum holds significant potential as a city icon through its distinctive architecture, historical collections, and role in non-formal education. The museum has implemented various programs such as educational visits, cultural workshops, and guided tours to attract the interest of Generation Alpha in local history and heritage.
